Highlights of this course

  • Aoshima Shrine

The shrine is located in Qingdao and is known as a matchmaking shrine.
The island is believed to be the setting of the mythical "Umisachi (harvests from the sea) and Yamasachi (harvests from the mountains)" in Japanese mythology. The island is surrounded by subtropical vegetation and a natural monument, the Oni no Washboard. The island is also famous as a place where the Yomiuri Giants visit to pray for victory during their annual professional baseball camp in February.
  • Udo Shrine

It is a rare shrine built into the cliff facing the Sea of Hyuga. Many people visit the shrine to pray for marriage, marital harmony, the birth of a child, and easy childbirth. It is said that if a man throws a unglazed "luck ball" with his left hand and a woman with her right hand from the shrine grounds toward the turtle stone in the sea, and it enters the stone, their wishes will come true. Incidentally, there are only 24 Shinto shrines in Japan, including Ise Jingu Shrine, of which Udo Jingu Shrine and Miyazaki Jingu Shrine are located in Miyazaki Prefecture.
