(1)Fukuoka Castle Ruins
Fukuoka Castle" was built by Nagamasa Kuroda, the first lord of the Fukuoka domain, over a period of seven years from 1601.
Now designated as a national historic site as the ruins of Fukuoka Castle, it is a quiet green space with stone walls and trees.
In its former days, there were large, medium, and small castle towers and 47 yagura, and the moat is home to the Tsukushiogayatsuri, a natural treasure designated by the prefecture and found only here in Japan. -
(2) Koun Shrine
This shrine is dedicated to Kuroda Josui (Ryuko-in-den), the founder of the Fukuoka domain, and Kuroda Nagamasa (Kounin-den), the first lord of the domain.
Originally located in the Honmaru area of Fukuoka Castle, the shrine was moved outside the castle after the Meiji Restoration, and later relocated to its current location.
The cherry blossoms in West Park are very beautiful during the cherry blossom season, and you can see the first sunrise of the year on New Year's Day. -
(3)Tochoji Temple
It was founded in 1594 by the fourth head monk of Tochikuin, Sesshiniwa Shunzeki, in what is now Kumagaya City, Saitama Prefecture.
Approximately 400 years after its foundation, the current temple was completed in 1989 as a "400th Anniversary Commemorative Project" at the behest of the 33rd head monk of Tocho, Kazuo Jitake.
Enjoy the style of the temple, which combines the rationality of modern architecture with the serenity of historical temple architecture.
